Water Bear

These tiny, near-microscopic creatures are some of the toughest organisms on Earth. Here’s what makes them so cool:

  • Size: Usually 0.3–0.5 mm long (barely visible without a microscope).

  • Habitat: Found everywhere — deep oceans, mountaintops, rainforests, even your backyard moss.

  • Superpowers:

    • Can survive extreme temperatures (from near absolute zero to over 150°C).

    • Endure radiation, dehydration, and even the vacuum of space.

    • Go into a "tun" state — basically suspended animation — where they can chill out for decades without food or water.
